Finalists for the prestigious James Beard Awards were revealed on Wednesday. Only three metro Detroit chefs and a Detroit restaurant, out of 16 total semifinalists nominations, will move on as finalists.

Barda with its Argentinian fare is up for Best New Restaurant. In the outstanding pastry chef category, Warda Bouguettaya of Warda Patisserie in Detroit is a finalist. In 2020 Bouguettaya won the first Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Chef of the Year award.
